Monday, May 1 Bishop Museum Tour of murals, Native Botanical Garden, Hawaiian Hall Lei Day Celebration at Kapi’olani Park Festive gathering including music, hula, lei-making contests, princess contest 61 years old+, and food trucks No-host Dinner (restaurant recommendations will be provided) Tuesday, May 2 Sunrise Hike to Diamond Head (optional) Liljestrand House Guided tour Downtown Art Center Reception, art class, dinner Wednesday, May 3 University of Hawaii at Manoa Tour of Jean Charlot mosaics and fresco with Malia Van Heukelem, art archivist librarian Cafe Julia No-host Lunch Iolani Palace Historical tour of the only official royal palace in the United States, and the last residence of the Hawaiian Royal Monarchs. No-host Dinner (restaurant recommendations will be provided) Thursday, May 4 Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design Tour featuring exhibition Jordan Nassar: Lēʻahi HOMA Café No-host Lunch Oceanside Luau at Royal Hawaiian Hotel Dinner and show Friday, May 5 Hawaiian History presentation by Hi’Inani, Head of Halekulani Cultural Center ADDITIONAL INFO Accommodations We will be staying at the beautiful Halepuna Waikiki which was voted Best Hotel in Hawaii in 2021 by Condé Nast Traveler. Instructions on how to make your room reservation will be included in your registration confirmation email. Details Space is limited to 25 SAMS members after which a waitlist will be kept. $625 non-refundable payment is required at registration. This includes the Sunday welcome dinner, Tuesday’s reception and dinner at the Downtown Art Center, and Thursday’s ocean-side luau at the Royal Hawaiian. It also includes the entry fees to the museums and palace tour, the sunrise hike to Diamond Head, and the planting of a native tree to leave something positive behind, called Mālama ʻĀina (taking care of and respecting the land). Additional trip expenses not included in $625 fee: airfare, lodging, Uber/Lyft transportation, additional activities, and other meals.
